The Schoolhouse Sampler is the newest design in Dropcloth's tutorial series. This jam packed design does not disapoint. Inspired by the history of American sampler making and makers, it is filled with pattern with stitch tutorials, letters, and eight different pattern squares
The sampler arrives preprinted on cotton quilting fabric, ready to stitch and includes basic instructions. You provide your own threads, needles, and hoop.
PLEASE NOTE: This item is not embroidered, but ready to be embroidered by YOU. The pictures show one way to fill in the design, but you can choose whatever colors/threads you like. (The Schoolhouse Sampler has an accompanying class on Creativebug.)
What size is it?
This Sampler measures approximately 10" x 12".
What thread should I use?
They use a combination of size 8 perle cotton and/or embroidery floss.
How should I back my sampler?
For best results they recommend backing this fabric with a second piece of fabric (cotton or linen) before placing your fabric in the hoop. You'll get the flattest, most even stitches this way.
What size hoops should I use?
They like a size 6—but use whatever you hoop you have on hand.
